Dear Jen and Arnie:
Believe it or not, on April 1st, 2006 - yes, April Fools Day - my friend and running companion suggested we attend a Bikram Yoga class. You must know I see myself as an athlete and thought Yoga was for wimps. My value of the friendship won out and I went to the class. Arriving that day and going into the Yoga room I began to doubt that my friend was really my friend.
Fast forward to August 2008, and while my friend has long departed from Yoga training, I have continued to practice in a somewhat regular sporadic time frame. The point of this letter is to share the specific benefits I have experienced in Bikram Yoga. Physiologically speaking, I know Bikram Yoga allows my body to recover faster from my other exercise activities (running and basketball). I run about 15 miles a week and along with the Bikram training I have experienced a faster run with less strain on the joints. The additional benefits of more flexibility and less pain must be mentioned. My weight has been reduced between 15 to 20 pounds along with 4 to 6 inches off my waist line.
My overall recommendation is that Bikram Yoga is beneficial on multiple levels. That's my story and I am sticking to it.
